Why are we providing this service?

This site was developed to help improve access to primary healthcare services across the Northern Eyre Peninsula by making it easier for communities to find, access and navigate healthcare services, closer to home.

It is part of a Regional Coordination Service, shaped through extensive consultation with local communities, healthcare providers and regional stakeholders. Community members consistently identified the need for better access to health service information, improved service visibility, and stronger connections between healthcare providers and communities.

The Regional Coordination Service is delivered by the Northern Eyre Peninsula Health Alliance (NEPHA) in partnership with Eyre and Far North Local Health Network as part of a Commonwealth-funded project under the Innovative Models of Care Program.

Meet the Northern Eyre Peninsula Health Alliance

The Northern Eyre Peninsula Health Alliance (NEPHA) was established in 2019 in response to growing concerns about the sustainability of primary healthcare services across the region, including ongoing general practitioner shortages and increasing challenges attracting and retaining healthcare professionals.

NEPHA is an alliance of the District Councils of Cleve, Elliston, Franklin Harbour, Kimba, Streaky Bay and Wudinna, working together to support stronger and more sustainable healthcare outcomes for Northern Eyre Peninsula communities.

NEPHA’s early work investigated the challenges facing local medical practice services and identified opportunities to strengthen community capacity, support workforce attraction and retention, and improve access to care. This work continues through NEPHA’s current Innovative Models of Care (IMOC) project, which builds on these foundations through long-term partnership, community engagement and regional collaboration.

The Northern Eyre Peninsula Health Alliance is governed by a Board comprising representatives from each member council across the region.
